These pie charts have been compiled by the Injury Prevention research Unit (IPRU) at Otago University based on data from the NZ Health Information Service. The charts depict the injury related deaths and serious hospitalisation in New Zealand based on mechanism of injury and ethnicity. These pie charts are a small part of a more comprehensive report called the Impact of Injury in New Zealand (PDF 2 MB). The full report covers injury resulting in death and hospital inpatient treatment by ethnicity, gender, age and mechanism.
